What we do
We specialize in Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Materials.
Minervati Group Inc., provides quality sprayed fireproofing/insulation services to commercial and industrial clients throughout all D.C, Maryland and Virginia area.
We are experts in a variety of fireproofing applications, installation methods and services. We work on commercial and industrial projects ranging from high-rises to shopping centers, providing fire rated assemblies and applying spray insulation.
As a life safety measure, the International Building Code requires any assembly supporting a human-occupied floor to be constructed to resist the effects of fire. Although structural steel doesn’t “burn” in a fire as does wood, it does lose considerable strength as it heats up eventually causing structural failure.
Minervati Insulators are experienced & trained applicators of Spray applied Fire Resistive Materials “SFRM” designed to coat structural steel to offer 1-4 hour rated protection.
We install product lines suitable for various types of applications from inside conditioned space (standard durability), to parking garages, pools, arenas, freezers (medium durability), and exterior applications resistant to the element’s climate delivers.
We are also applicators of Intumescent Fire Resistive Materials “IFRM” used where the structural steel requires fire rating and is intended to remain exposed to view. When exposed to extreme heat, the IFRM paint swells into a char which insulates the steel from the effects of the fire.
Whether retrofit or new construction, contact us today to discuss the fireproofing requirements in your project.
Fireproofing (features)
A fire-resistant material that encapsulates a structural member to “insulate” it from fire and resulting heat transfer that would cause the structural member to deform be compromised and eventually result in the building collapse. Sprayed fireproofing is rated in terms of hours that will prevent or delay the transfer of heat that would cause structural failure.
Commercial Density Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Materials (SFRM)
It is designed to cover a full range of concealed fireproofing environments. Sometimes referred to as Low Density SFRM, this comprehensive product line includes both Dry and Wet Spray products, each with distinct uses and advantages.
High Density Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Materials (SFRM)
It is designed to cover a full range of applications requiring superior thermal performance and exceptional durability.
It is specifically for spray and trowel applications to protect structural columns and beams in exterior environments and interior applications where highest levels of fire protection, abrasion resistance and durability are necessary. Some locations may be parking garages, warehouses and open-air structures.
Intumescent
A thin-film fireproofing that is paint-like, it is normally specified for aesthetic purposes or in locations where commercial density fireproofing may not fit because of spatial constraints.
Spray-On Fireproofing
It is a light weight and Cementitious or Fiber Fire Protection designed to adhere to diverse surfaces. It can be used in a variety of commercial and industrial applications such as: office buildings, shopping malls, grocery stores, schools, industrial plants and hospitals. The system is safe and easy to use, and it reduces insurance premiums.
